There’s nobody, nobody but… Park Jin Young [JYP] who’s got it all. On February 14, the Korean singer, songwriter, producer, and founder of JYP Entertainment [JYPE] left ladies and gents star-struck at The House of Glam’s “A Valentine’s Day Affair” party at club MyHouse.
JYP isn’t just a big time name in Korea- he has successfully crossed over into the United States and China as well. With JYPE branches located in Manhattan and in Beijing, JYP has been able to collaborate with American artists such as Cassie, Will Smith, and Mase. In Beijing, JYPE will soon be launching a new all-female trio, who are dubbed to be the “Chinese Wonder Girls.” Check out the clip that’s been getting people hyped about JYP’s new artists:
While maintaining his own career as a singer and coming out with hit songs since 1994–“Honey” (1998) and “Kiss” (2007)– JYP has also produced several hit songs for his artists, Rain, 2PM, and Wonder Girls. The Wonder Girls particularly have gained more fame by touring with the Jonas Brothers for their World Tour 2009, where they performed their hit songs, “Nobody But You” and “Tell Me.”
Watch the Wonder Girls perform their English version of “Nobody But You”
By leading a new pop movement within Asia and even in the United States, and successfully keeping his own singing career alive for over a decade, JYP clearly demonstrates what the House of GLAM lifestyle is all about—Glamour, Life, Art, and Music.
Our thanks goes out to JYP for celebrating Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year with The House of Glam!
THE HOUSE OF GLAM would like to commend Monga (艋舺) on its growing success and in its feat of surpassing the opening gross of even Hollywood productions such as Avatar!Monga (艋舺) (Wanhua is Báng-kah, rendered as “Monga”, in Taiwanese. ), directed by Niu Chen-zer (鈕承澤), opened in Taiwan on 5 February 2010 and grossed NT$8.31 million (US$260,000) in the first day and NT$59.32 million (US$1.85 million) in its first weekend of release, higher than the worldwide hit Avatar that week.
Mongais a 2010 Taiwanese gangster film set in the world of brotherhood and betrayal based on the Wanhua district of 1980s. The movie was shot on location amid such landmarks as Longshan Temple and Huazi Street with nostalgic references to the seedy turbulent past of Taipei’s oldest district.
Thanks to Wikipedia for the details (…they also have plot summary but we didn’t want to ruin it for everyone)! So as you await the return of GLAM Saturday nights (coming very soon!!) – take a cinematic detour to your local theatre to check out and support Monga!

“Grew up believing life is like Saturday morning cartoons and Japanese Anime… and I still do.” – Van Ness @ Hypebeast
Actor, singer, director, designer, and producer – Asia based, American born Taiwanese Vanness Wu is the embodiment of all that we celebrate here at The House of GLAM – Glamour, Life, Art & Music.
In his own words: “forged early 1978, fat boy at heart, dancing till I die… Freak of Nature, raised in LA/OC – but left for Asia in 2001 searching for more to life than just customer service at a shitty telephone company, appreciation for finer things in life… God, Family, Friends, Fans… ”
Vanness shows us just how much more there is to life – spearheading a multi-faceted career with three albums under the Taiwanese boyband F4, three solo albums and a collaborative album with Korean star Kangta. He has worked with Beyonce, Coco Lee and performed along side Kanye West. His first Japanese album drops this February 2010.
His other ventures range from most recently – designing and launching a jewelry line, 3.V.0.7 (www.dazzlingdazzling) to involvement in and co-founding such companies as Smash and Grab (www.sagprod.com) and independent lifestyle brand Triumvir (www.triumvir.com).
The House of GLAM sends a warm thank you to Vanness Wu, for your support of our events and hope to see you chilling soon again at our GLAM events. Cheers!
